The 5802209554 VIBRATION DAMPER refers to a device attached to a rotating shaft (often engine crankshaft) to absorb vibrations. It is usually a steel hub with an elastomer (rubber) ring and an outer inertia ring. The rubber allows relative movement, damping torsional pulses from engine firing. By doing so, it protects the crankshaft and accessories from oscillations. The vibration damper also often serves as a drive pulley. It is carefully balanced to match the engine’s harmonic frequencies.
