A rocker arm is a pivoting lever in an engine’s valve train that transfers motion from the cam or pushrod to the valves. When the camshaft or lifter pushes on one end, the rocker pivots and pushes the valve stem on the other end. Rocker arms can amplify the cam motion and adjust valve timing. They are commonly found in overhead valve (OHV) engines.
